A NUMBER of kind-hearted Kinky Boots cast members showed their community spirit last week by collecting donations on behalf of Redditch Nightstop.
The cast, who are all members of Studley Operatic Society, collected essential items for the charity including toilet roll, toiletries, kitchenware, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food, as well as donating two tickets to their upcoming show at the Palace Theatre in April.
Chairperson for Studley Operatic Society, Lorraine Hill, said: “I am so proud of what our cast pulled together, and I hope it goes a long way to supporting local young people in need.
“Kinky Boots is all about acceptance and supporting others, no matter what difficulties life has thrown their way.
“With that mantra in mind, we felt that it was very appropriate to help Redditch Nightstop, who are passionate about what they do and are very creative with the ways in which they support their clients.
Nightstop are a charity who provide homelessness prevention support for those aged between 16 to 35 years.
The aim of the support is to enable people to overcome barriers to access accommodation,.
Charity Manager, Susan Sadler, who attended the cast rehearsal last Wednesday night to receive the donation, said: “We are delighted that the members of the Studley Operatic Society have chosen to support our Charity.
“We are regularly supporting up to 60 people at any one time so these items will be directly distributed where a need arises.
“The support that we receive like this from the local community has a dual purpose in that it promotes our work and provides much needed items – it means a lot to us and our clients.”
