Studley Stictchers celebrate Founders Day

LOVE is all around in Studley with the incredible postbox toppers the Studley Stitchers have made.

The Alcester Road postbox celebrates the love the villagers have for Guiding and Scouting.

Each February 22, Scouts worldwide celebrate Founders Day.

Members get together to renew their promises and remember the founder, Lord Baden Powell.

On the same date Girl Scouts and Girl Guides across 150 countries celebrate World Thinking Day.

It’s a day of international friendship and a time to stand up for causes that could improve the lives of girls around the globe.

February 22 was chosen as the date for these celebrations because it was the birthday of both Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Scout Movement, and Olave Baden-Powell, who was World Chief Guide.

Studley has nearly 100 girls in Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and Studley Scout Group has 110 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Guide Leader, Pam Winfield said: “Having been a Girl Guide leader in Studley for 12 years I can say, hand on heart, it is one of the most rewarding, fun and fulfilling roles I’ve ever had the privilege of being part of.

“We have so many girls who need and deserve our support so please come and join us and join the fun.”

Karen Marshall, Group Scout Leader at Studley Scout Group added: February 22nd also marks the 63rd birthday of our Scout Group.

“Over the last 10 years we have doubled the number of boys and girls scouting in Studley and we’d like to offer places to more Scouts aged from 4 years to 18 years but to do this we need more adult volunteers, please come and have a look at what we do and how you could fit in.
