REDDITCH Round Table has donated £330 to anti-knife crime campaigner Pete Martin to help his bleed kits campaign reach its target.
Pete, who wants to distribute bleed kits throughout the community, said: “I’m impatient and don’t want to wait around for legislation changes.
“These kits could help save lives, and I urge any businesses to buy a kit.”
The kits are endorsed by West Midland Ambulance Service and are used by the public in the case of a stabbing.
The Control The Bleed kit locations are also stored in a national database and accessed by 999 phone operators when needed.
Each kit will be registered with the location.
Callers are told which kit is nearest their location for fastest collection to provide vital aid by preventing blood loss.
The contents are easy to use and designed to be used by the general public.
Pete added: “We have support from councilors, Redditch Borough Council, West Mercia Police, schools and the public – together we can make a difference.”
A Redditch Round Table spokesperson said: “The kits cost £110 each, include life saving items and are registered with the emergency services, so you can rest assured they are fit for purpose.
“Pete told us he will be trying to have even more kits than estates installed, as it increases the chances of saving lives and we wanted to give him a little helping hand to get a few more kits.
“He is a pillar of our community and we wanted to say a huge thanks for taking time out to not only tell us about the work he was doing, but to give us an overview of the kits and how they save lives.
“We hope to never need them, but are left feeling safer in the knowledge that they exist in so many locations.”
