OFFICERS from Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have stepped up patrols near the town’s mosques at key times following the attack in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
With Ramadhan starting soon, patrols will take place from 8.30pm onwards offering reassurance to mosque visitors during and following evening prayers.
Insp Richard Field said: “We are working with the local mosques and asking them what support they need from the local police.
“Officers have been in touch with the local mosques and we will be stepping up patrols, in particular during evening prayers which see an increase in footfall.”
The attack in Birmingham involved a man being set alight on his way home from Dudley Road Mosque on Monday.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
