THE NEW Blakes restaurant and cocktail lounge based at the Westmead Hotel was officially opened on Friday, September 29, with a special VIP launch party for invited guests before it opened to the public on Saturday.
The revamped restaurant has been transformed into an elegant brasserie ideal for modern fine dining, boasting stylish interiors decorated in cosy greys and warming bronze tones.
Blakes’ Operating Officer Sapna Panesar said: “Our customers have always enjoyed the superb quality provided by the Westmead, and we want to continue offering diners the same level quality with our new look.
“We have been working very hard flexing our creative muscles with the Faber design team and we are really impressed with the results.”
The kitchen team, led by Head Chef Tom Kavanagh, has been showing off its culinary flair by creating a new menu of tempting seasonal dishes.
Tom and his team use classic produce and have produced enticing dishes full of flavour and style.
Among them are French Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli with Chargrilled Courgette, Grilled Red Snapper, Confit of Duck, Sweet Teriyaki Pork and Roasted Monkfish in Parma ham – each and every one beautifully presented.
There is also a mouth-watering range of pizzas, all cooked on a stunning wood fired pizza oven which has been specially imported from Italy to give a real authentic taste of the dish’s origins.
Tom said: “Our exceptional team has been working creatively hard developing a menu that will combine the best dry-aged beef, finest seafood and freshest locally-sourced ingredients to create a unique and charming dining experience.”
The bar manager also arrives at the venue with a renowned reputation.
That has enabled Blakes to be able to offer a well thought out wine list, innovative cocktails and a wide selection of beers, including local brews on draught and a variety of high quality craft ales.
