AN APPEAL has been launched for items to help NHS staff stay fresh while they are working on the frontline.
Andrea Newcombe works in chaplaincy for the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation trust and is putting gift packs together for both staff at that trust and the Queen
Elizabeth Hospital who she and her colleagues are also supporting.
Andrea, who is from Rubery but now lives in Redditch, said: “The staff are finding it so much more difficult this time and I feel there’s less recognition of their hard work and the incredible stress they’re under.
“I’d like to do whatever I can to show them gratitude for all their hard work, including the chaplains as it’s a devastating time for them too.”
In the packs are practical items, including flavoured water, baby wipes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, cooling spray, chewing gum, shower gel and deodorant.
Andrea added: “They are working long shifts in really hot conditions, especially with the PPE gear.
“When I spoke to staff they said they wanted nice smelling products to keep them feeling fresh.”
Anyone who can donate should email Andrea at firstname.lastname@example.org and she can arrange to collect them.
