Brave ‘Dob’ exits coma after car crash but is still ‘very poorly’

A BRAVE little boy fighting for his life following a horrific car crash in Italy over Christmas has emerged from a coma but remains ‘very poorly’ according to his devoted family.

Dominic Boschetti, a pupil at Inkberrow First School, made the progress over the weekend, more than a fortnight after the horrific incident on December 22 in Lombardy.

The youngster, who lives in Bromsgrove with his mum Jordan, had gone out to Italy to spend Christmas with his father Giuiseppe, and was being driven to see his Italian grandparents when the car he was travelling in was hit by a lorry.

Despite suffering multiple arm and leg injuries, Giuiseppe managed to pull his sleeping son from the car and give him CPR before emergency services arrived. He has undergone a number of operations on his legs since the incident.

In his latest update on a fund-raising page which has seen more than a £23,000 raised to support his mum Jordan, his uncle Corin Hetherington who affectionately calls Dominic ‘Dob’ revealed he, mum Jaqueline and brother Chris had returned to their Redditch home.

The trio hope to be able to return to Italy as soon at the Covid restrictions in the country allow.

“It’s heart breaking trying to speak with him via video call every day,” Corin said.

“Jord his mum is with him day and night. Me and mum will return to Italy to be with him as soon as we are allowed.

“Keep fighting little Dob. I will be back soon,” he added.

The fund-raiser has attracted support from across the world with Corin posting updates in both English and Italian to update well-wishers on Dominic’s fight.

Dominic turned six yesterday (Thursday) and doctors now hope to be able to move him to a specialist rehabilitation centre in Milan from his Brescia hospital early next week.

While overjoyed at the step forward taken by his ‘beautiful little Dob’, Corin revealed the youngster was still ‘extremely poorly’.

“He opens his eyes very slightly. He moves his hands a little bit and his legs and feet,” he said.

“Dob will be transferred to a specialist hospital in Milan to begin rehabilitation as soon as he shows signs of improvement.

“Hopefully he will open his eyes for his birthday on Thursday,” he added.
