A DRUG DEALER who sold heroin and crack cocaine in Redditch has been handed a two-year custodial sentence.

Shahfagat Ali, 20, of Prospect Road North, was found guilty at Worcester Crown Court of two charges.

Ali was sentenced to two years in a Young Offenders’ Institution (YOI) for being concerned in the supply of heroin.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187 and was sentenced to two years in a YOI to run concurrently for being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine.

It means he will serve two years in total.

Ali’s sentence follows an investigation by Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) and the Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team (NCFT).

PC Mike Moore, from Redditch SNT, said: “We are pleased to see Ali has been sentenced to two years for his drug dealing into our communities here in Redditch.

“The misery associated with this offending is well-known, as is the impact on the local community.

“Officers from West Mercia Police will not tolerate the supply of controlled drugs and will work with the local community and partner agencies to combat it at every opportunity.”

Police have urged the community to continue to help officers by reporting any signs of criminal activity.

This can be done by visiting the report section at the West Mercia Police website at westmercia.police.uk. Information can also be passed on via Crimestoppers by visiting crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
