Elvis set to come alive in the voice of Richard Griffin

THE great Richard Griffin will be performing ‘Elvis The Songbook’ at Alvechurch Village Hall on Saturday, May 21.

Richard’s an award-winning entertainer and first started doing his take on The King when in his 20s.

However anyone looking for an Elvis impersonator will be disappointed as for Richard, it’s all about the songs The King sang.

“I sing the songs as myself but I’ve always loved the music – and not just the hits from his early days to the jumpsuit era,” he said.

“The music has always been a big part of my life and Elvis is the only reason I got on stage and started singing.”

Richard actually hails from Worcestershire and so this is very much a local gig for him.

He won’t be alone either as the performance will be accompanied by a large video showing many of his favourite images of Elvis.

Tickets cost just £9 and are available from https://www.ents24.com/alvechurch-events/alvechurch-village-hall/elvis-the-songbook/6317406 and on the door on the night.

“I don’t pretend to be Elvis as I feel the songs themselves are the star of the show, so many of the famous numbers will be performed including ‘An American Trilogy’, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Suspicious Minds’, and so many more,” he said.
