A BRAVE Redditch girl who is battling leukaemia has had her courage celebrated by Nisa who have named one of their delivery lorries after her.

Seven-year-old Jasmine Brady, from Redditch, was diagnosed with the illness a year ago, and has another year of treatment to undergo.

Despite this mum Karen, who nominated her for the prize, said: “She keeps smiling all through this.

“Jasmine being diagnosed with leukaemia came out of the blue.

“She had no illness but started to get groin pain the end of October 2016 and by November 1 was diagnosed with cancer.

“She is now seven years of age and a little fighter.

“She will finish all treatments in March 2019 so there’s still a long way to go but so far it is going really well.”

And the unveiling of the lorry at her Nisa Local store in Woodfield Close, Redditch this week, brought an even bigger smile to her face.

“She had an amazing time,” said Karen. “She was absolutely thrilled and it was a fabulous experience for her.”

Staff at the Nisa store said they were delighted to have been able to make the day so special for their young customer.

Store owner Kiran Kang, said: “It was just brilliant for Jasmine and it made us all happy just seeing her happy.

“To see that big smile on her face was so lovely.

“She had a blast and even though she is unwell. She got in the truck and honked the horn and was thrilled!”

It’s not the first time brave Jasmine has hit the headlines – she’s been a cover star for the Leukaemia CARE magazine and recently members at the Dolphin Road Allotment Association raised £700 to combat leukaemia by holding an open day.

The Name a Nisa Lorry initiative was launched as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of Nisa Retail and will see 40 lorries named after Nisa customers and their friends and family who were nominated via an online competition.
