Motorcyclists can attend 'Biker Down' safety courses being held across Worcestershire this summer

MOTORCYCLISTS can attend a free ‘Biker Down’ safety course this summer.

The three-hour classroom-based courses are being run by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service in partnership with West Mercia Police, the Institute of Advanced Motorists and Midlands Air Ambulance.

All four organisations are committed to reducing motorcycle-related collisions and the serious injuries sustained with them.

Courses offer bikers the chance to benefit from essential first-aid training and advice on what to do should they find themselves first at the scene of a crash where a motorcyclist is injured.

They also teach practical skills to help avoid being involved in a collision.

The course is made up of three modules – collision scene management, basic first aid and casualty care (including CPR and helmet removal) and ‘The science of being seen’ – advice on visibility and positioning.

The first course takes place at Evesham Fire Station next Friday, July 23, with one at Bromsgrove Fire Station on August 6 and another at Peterchurch Fire Station on August 20.

Further events for Worcester, Kidderminster and Leominster will take place later this year.

Places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis and places must be booked in advance.

Full details will be provided to course attendees once their place is confirmed.

To book a place on this course, email [email protected] ref ‘Biker Down’.

Applicants should provide their name, email address, contact telephone number and preferred course date.
