THE new temporary Jobcentre in Redditch in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre has officially opened its doors.
Located up the escalator and opposite TK Maxx, the Jobcentre will offer face-to-face support to a wide range of Universal Credit customers.
It has 30 work coaches, some of whom joined the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as part of the successful recruitment drive to hire an extra 13,500 across the country.
Each one will help local people looking for work in Redditch and the surrounding areas, with one-on-one tailored support to find their next role.
They will also continue to build on the DWP’s work to help younger jobseekers into Kickstart opportunities.
Mims Davies MP, Minister for Employment, said: “We know this has been a challenging time for many people and that’s why we’re boosting our DWP Jobcentre support in every community of the UK, including here in Redditch.
“Every customer benefits from having a dedicated work coach. They know the local jobs market and work with local businesses to match jobseekers to the latest opportunities.”
Redditch Kingfisher Jobcentre Plus is one of the new temporary sites announced by the DWP earlier this year, building on the existing 639 Jobcentres across the UK.
Lisa Ridley, one of the new recruits based at Redditch Kingfisher JCP said: “I love the fact that I am a work coach and being part of the new site opening!
“The reason I applied for the role was to be able to help people on their journey back to work.
“Showing people what they can do to help them on their way, and getting feedback that they got themselves a job or a step closer gives a massive sense of achievement! It truly is a job I love.”
