Offering support for mental health with the launch of a new scheme

A NEW scheme has been launched by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust to support children and families dealing with mental health issues.

Posters and a dedicated website signposting mental health support for children across the two counties have been introduced, emphasising the need for a healthy mind for young people to thrive.

They include links to community groups, online and text messaging services and details on where to go for support.

The campaign has been launched during the summer holidays as this is one of the key times when young people feel isolated from their friends and peers.

Elaine Cook-Tippins, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), said: “Throughout the design and launch of our new CAMHS website, young people have been at the forefront of our minds.

“The insight and feedback received from young people and service users was invaluable, giving a fresh perspective to the website’s design.”

Matthew Lammas, the locality services manager for Wellbeing and Emotional Support Teams in schools, added: “We wanted to create a tool which was easy for everyone to use and we truly hope children, young people and families like the new website and provide feedback, ensuring we continue to provide the best care to our local communities.”

CAMHS has played a vital role in mental health and learning disability services in Herefordshire and Worcestershire and the new resources are aimed at providing that work.

CAMHS is delivered by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, which provides mental health and learning disability services across both counties and runs community hospitals, nursing and therapy and other children’s services across Worcestershire.
