RAIL STRIKES - What passengers using trains on Cross City Line from Bromsgrove and Redditch to Birmingham need to know

RAIL users are being warned to be prepared and know when they can and cannot travel on the upcoming strike days.

Industrial action by RMT union members will take place tomorrow (Thursday, March 16) and Saturday (March 18) with limited services.

But it will not just be those days affected. Friday’s morning services will be impacted and start later as the trains will not be in their usual positions because of the early finish.

The services available to Cross City Line rail users

Tomorrow (Thursday) on the Cross City Line, services will not start until after 8am with one train an hour between Bromsgrove, Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley and one train an hour between Redditch, Birmingham New Street and Lichfield Trent Valley.




The last train to Bromsgrove from Birmingham New Street will be at 5.23pm and the last one to Redditch will be at 4.53pm.

On Friday, the first train to Birmingham New Street from Bromsgrove will be at 8.03am and the first train from Redditch to the Second City will be at 7.31am.


On Saturday, the first train from Bromsgrove to Birmingham will be 8.03am and they will run one-an-hour until the last service which will be 6.02pm.

The first train from Redditch to Birmingham New Street will be at 8.55am on Saturday. Services will run hourly throughout the day with the lat one to Redditch from Birmingham leaving at 5.23pm to Bromsgrove and 5.53pm to Redditch.

Normal services are expected on Sunday, March 19.

Further strikes

If the dispute with the RMT is not resolved later this month, there will be similar strikes and disruption for five days in a row.

Industrial action is scheduled between March 29 and April 1. Further details will be released in due course.
