Redditch Editorial 25th Jun, 2024   0

COOKHILL Baptist Church is set to open its doors this weekend and spread a little happiness with the return of the annual flower festival.

The event, which has been going since 2001, runs from Friday, June 28, to Sunday, June 30, and will feature eight floral displays themed on different Biblical mentions of causes for joy.

These have been created by churchgoers Sheila Roberts, Carole Balloo, Hilarie Davey, Barbara and Keith Powell, Jenny Stubbings, Sheila Meggason, Christine Wright and Jackie Morgan.

There will be food and refreshments on offer in the form of morning coffees, ploughman’s lunches and afternoon cream teas.

On Saturday there will also be pony rides and face-painting for children and on Sunday at 10.30am there will be garden praise service featuring the Salvation Army Band.

Organiser Jackie said: “The theme for this year is joy, a much-needed blessing at this difficult time with all that is going on in certain parts of our sad world.”

The festival is open 10am to 5pm and is free to enter.
