Studley High School receive ‘Outstanding’ grade following latest Ofsted report

STAFF and students at Studley High School are celebrating after receiving an ‘Outstanding’ grade in all areas following the latest Ofsted.

Among the elements praised were the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

The inspection was carried out under the relatively new framework, widely considered to be much more demanding than when the school was previously graded ‘Outstanding’ in November 2011.

Headteacher Richard Eost said: “Ofsted reports are word limited and heavily quality assured, but despite this, the report manages to convey the richness of the school and how impressed the team were with us.

“The words ‘exceptional’ and ‘exemplary’ appear in the report multiple times and this was reiterated during conversations with the team throughout the inspection.

“When commenting on ‘what it is like to attend the school’, we feel the lead inspector captured our ethos perfectly when he stated: ‘Respectful, caring and supportive relationships are at the heart of Studley High School.

“And he added: ‘An overwhelming sense of community and mutual respect greets you as you arrive’.’’

The school informed parents their children were outstanding ambassadors for young people throughout the inspection, as they were always and it added it was a real privilege for staff to work with them.

The inspectors were also hugely impressed with the quality of staff at the school – the strength of their subject knowledge, their ability to facilitate learning to the highest level and the level of pastoral care offered to the students were all commended.

Mr Eost thanked the staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the school.

And he added: “I feel extremely lucky to work with such a talented group of professionals.”

He also thanked the parent body which completed the parent survey as the lead inspector commented that the level of support from parents was overwhelming, especially when considered against the results from this survey in other schools.

The parent body is a fundamental part of the community at Studley High.

Mr Eost added Studley High students ‘always aimed higher’ and the school would now use this inspection to continue developing to ensure it remained a truly great school.
