DETAILS of the upcoming funeral and celebration of life for Worcestershire cricketer Josh Baker have been confirmed.
Baker died aged 20 on May 2 just 24 hours after he took three wickets for Worcestershire Seconds against Somerset.
The funeral will take place on Monday, June 10 at 12.30pm at Redditch Crematorium, followed by a service and sharing of memories at New Road, for Josh’s family and close friends.
Due to limited space at the crematorium, the family have arranged for a live stream of the service to be available for those who wish to join virtually.
The family have requested attendees to refrain from wearing black clothing or bringing flowers. They encourage comfortable, casual, and colourful attire to celebrate the joy and positivity Josh embodied.
Josh’s family would appreciate the virtual presence of supporters and the Worcestershire County Cricket Club community.
Following his death, Worcestershire announced they would be wearing the spin bowler’s number 33 on their playing shirts for the remainder of the season.
Josh was born in Redditch and studied at Malvern College.
The talented young spin bowler turned professional with Worcestershire in 2021, playing 47 times for the club and twice being capped by England at under-19 level.
He took 70 wickets across all three formats and scored 525 runs.
