A WYTHALL school has teamed up with The Ogden Trust to establish a a Phiz Lab in school.
Staff and students at Coppice Primary School came together for the official launch of the lab on Tuesday (April 26) and were joined by the Trust’s chief executive, Tim Simmons, Wendy Cox, Ogden’s national primary science consultant, and Natasha Rancins, headteacher of Woodrush High School, who helped instigate the project.
It is hoped the venture will enhance the quality of science teaching at The Coppice immeasurably, ensuring teachers have a ring-fenced space as well as all of the required equipment to hand.
The Ogden Trust is a charitable organisation that encourages and promotes the teaching and learning of science – primarily physics – in school through sponsorship as well as support with training and resourcing.
Part of this is supporting primary school science through the establishment of science laboratories, Phiz Labs.
The Coppice intends to take a leading role in the local community, supporting other primary schools with the teaching of science through this facility and establishing training events which include teachers from other schools.
