REDDITCH United have confirmed Musa Ceesay as the eighth player retained by the club ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The popular defensive midfielder made 42 appearances last season and also featured in defence in a fine first campaign at the Valley Stadium.

Ceesay made the move up from Step Seven last season and is looking forward to working under new Reds boss Tim Flowers next term.

Ceesay said: “I’m very very happy to be back here, it’s a pleasure to be back with the Reds and I can’t wait to get going again.

“I found the step up quite hard, but at the same time my teammates were really helpful. It’s a process and takes time, but my teammates and the gaffer were supportive of me and that allowed me to develop.

“I’d come three years in a row on trial to Redditch and finally got accepted last season which I was delighted with. To be accepted by the fans and staff meant a lot to me and gave me confidence when playing. For me, it was one of the best seasons in my career so far.

“When I spoke with Tim he let me know what the project and target was – to improve on last season and add what we’ve been missing. It gave me even more confidence in him, I’m looking forward to working under him and working together to achieve what we want for next season.”

Reds manager Flowers said: “We’re really pleased to announce that another player of last year’s squad has decided to stay with the football club, with Musa Ceesay becoming the latest one to commit for next season.

“Musa is clearly a versatile player with a physical presence, he’s big and strong, can play in midfield or at centre back and he’s certainly someone with his considerable presence is well-liked in the dressing room and amongst the fans. He becomes another one to our ever-growing squad as we prepare for the new season.

“Hopefully, we can progress in the next few weeks. There are a lot of players out there who are unattached but are playing brinkmanship with money etc. at the moment and I’m sure as the summer progresses things will even out a little bit.

“We’re pleased to have eight of last year’s squad with us and they’ll all be reporting back next Saturday when pre-season training begins. I’m looking forward to meeting with them all and working together.”
