JOHNNY Johnston has agreed a one-year contract extension to remain with Redditch United for the 2024/25 season.

The 20-year-old striker scored four goals and provided seven assists in 19 appearances for the Reds in all competitions last term.

And the youngster is the first player to commit to the club next season as new Redditch manager Tim Flowers begins to shape his squad.

Johnston said: “I’m grateful to be here for another season, and build on what we did last season which was a great achievement for the club. Myself, the players and the management will aim to be better next season and finish higher than we did last season.

“But I’m over the moon to sign another year and can’t wait to see all of you Reds again – let’s make the Cedar Road rocking.”

Flowers added: “I’m delighted to be able to announce JJ for a second season. He came to the fore towards the end of last season and demonstrated the talent that Blackpool saw in him.

“His progression was stopped at Blackpool as a result of a big injury he sustained. He’s an ambitious, talented young man looking to get back into the EFL and we’re hopeful we can help him with that.

“His pace and movement are a big threat to the league and I’m really looking forward to working with him when all the lads come back in.”
