TRAINS across the West Midlands network were delayed for more than four hours on Wednesday (February 10) when a man was arrested on an afternoon service to Redditch.
British Transport Police were called at around 3.40pm following reports of a man being abusive to a conductor on-board.
It was further reported the man had held the train doors open at Aston for a prolonged period.
Officers met the train at Birmingham New Street and, with assistance from West Midlands Police, arrested the 28-year-old on suspicion of obstruction.
He was released on police bail until February 23, pending further enquiries.
As a result of the incident, the train was delayed at New Street for 11 minutes and had to be terminated before it reached Redditch.
It is understood the total delays on the network came to 288 minutes, with two trains being partially cancelled and 50 services being delayed.
