UPDATE - Man arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving after fatal Redditch crash

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash in Redditch.

One woman died and two others were taken to hospital following the three car collision on the A441 Alvechurch Highway around 2.30pm on Tuesday. The crash involved a blue Volkswagen Golf GTE, a grey Vauxhall Crossland and a red Fiat 500X.

The woman in her 60s – the driver of one of the vehilces – was in a critical condition and was given advanced life support but, despite paramedics’ best efforts, nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

Another man was taken Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.

After being arrested, the 23-year-old was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch. West Midlands Ambulance Service said his injuries were not believed to be serious.

West Mercia Police are investigating and officers have urged witnesses, anyone with dash cam footage from around the time it happened or anyone with information to email [email protected] or call 101 ext 773 3440.
