A HUGE swarm of bees was spotted on Ansley Close in Matchborough on Sunday (July 10).
Resident Alex Haines said: “I thought it was amazing. The way they were moving, it looked as though they didn’t like the first nest they had been building in the plum tree and were searching for a new location.”
Swarming happens when the queen bee leaves the hive with a large group of worker bees and a new honey bee colony is formed.
Experts say bees in a swarm are unlikely to be aggressive or sting unless attacked or disturbed, as they do not have a home to defend.
