TARDEBIGGE CE First School celebrated it’s 200th anniversary with a series of events for pupils, staff and friends.
The Bishop of Dudley, the Rt Revd Graham Usher was also on hand to hold a thanksgiving service.
A whole school trip to the Black Country Living Museum, a day dressed as Victorians, a World War 2 lunch and afternoon tea for past and present pupils were all enjoyed as part of the celebrations.
Year 4 pupils also worked with children’s playwright, John Townsend, performing ‘200 Years of Tardebigge School’ based on old records and log books.
The children also worked with local historian and oral history expert Julia Letts, interviewing the oldest former students for posterity.
School bursar Julie Clarkson said she wanted to give “a big thank you to the church and to all those that helped, just a huge thank you to everyone.”
She said the pupils enjoyed the events and that a lot of positive feedback had been received following the bicentenary celebrations.
The week concluded with the school’s music students performing in the morning, followed by the whole school learning circus skills.
A pig roast and live swing band rounded off the evening for the adults.
A Facebook page called “Memories of Tardebigge First School” has been created to allow those associated with the school to post about it’s past and present.
