HEROIC staff – and customers – saddled up at Caffe Nero recently as part of the Redditch coffee shop’s major fund raising drive in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The target was to spend the day riding a static bike the equivalent of 129 miles – the distance from Redditch to the company’s head office in London.
Headed by manager Claire Hadley, staff, who also worked between turns on the bike, completed the ‘trip’ well before their 4pm target.
“We were aiming to raise £1,000 but myself and Claire we’re also doing the Worcester 10 kilometre run in September and we’ve already collected £1,298 in sponsorship for both events so now we’ve aiming for £1,500 and hopefully £2,000 by the end of the year,” said assistant manager Sam Nicholson.
