A CHURCH Hill pensioner who has been using the same brand of make up for the last 80 years was the guest of honour at a birthday party for Boots’ No7 this week.

98-year-old Ivy Ward attended the event, in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on Wednesday (August 5), as a special guest to celebrate the cosmetic brand’s 80th anniversary.

“I am very excited to be here,” Ivy said. “I have been looking forward to it.”

The pensioner, who is a regular visitor to the store, has been using No7 products since the brand’s launch in 1935.

Named because the number seven was, at the time of its launch, frequently used to denote perfection, No7 has since gone from strength to strength with its Protect and Perfect anti-ageing collection in particular, escalating sales by 2,000 per cent.

“I was working for an insurance company back then,” Ivy added. “A lady in Boots asked me if I would like to try a new brand that had just come in and since then I’ve always loved it.”

The pensioner added how she particularly enjoys shopping for a new lip colour and how she would even wear No7 lipstick during the war when cosmetics were very difficult to find.

During the celebrations, beauty advisors completed beauty demonstrations, makeovers and showcased the celebratory 80th collection, which launched the same day.

“We’ve been very very excited,” said Gill Casey, No7 advisor. “We are so happy that we are working for No7 at this time to join in with the fun – eighty years in the beauty world is fantastic.”
