Education knows no bounds

CHURCHES and schools in Alcester had the opportunity to find out more about a mission to Calcutta.

Four young people aged between 18 and 20 from across the country spent the week in the town to speak to residents about their experiences in India working with churches on a project for children who would not otherwise receive an education.

Their schedule included visits to Alcester Academy, St Nicholas and Our Lady’s as well as afternoon tea, youth groups and a faith lunch.

Rev Martin Mills said: “In a time when faith is increasingly seen as irrelevant, or as a threat, these young people demonstrate that faith in Jesus Christ is a powerful and positive motivation both globally and locally – in Kolkata (Calcutta) and in Alcester.

“Alcester Baptist Church are delighted at this opportunity to work with them and in partnership with the local community and schools to demonstrate that there is good news to be shared.”
