A TRIO of borough firefighters were honoured at an awards ceremony in recognition of their service.

Crew Commander Simon Hawkins and firefighter Neil Teasdale received Long Service and Good Conduct Medals for more than 20 years of service, while James King was presented with the Worcestershire High Sheriff’s Award, which recognises the top young firefighter.

The awards were part of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s annual medals and awards ceremony.

Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates, who assisted in handing out the awards, said: “Without the exceptional talents and commitment of our staff, there wouldn’t be the high quality Fire and Rescue Service that we enjoy in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.”
