Folklore and fairytales will pop up

LOCAL charity Indigo arts will be making a dramatic entrance to the Kingfisher Shopping Centre when they bring their Pop Up Theatre to Walford Walk this weekend.

In the lead up to the production, Indigo has teamed up with the Arts in Redditch network, to run a gallery and shop, selling local arts and crafts, as well as a box office for the event.

The company will be premiering this year’s production ‘Ashes & Blood’, before embarking on their sixth journey to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where they have won huge plaudits.

Deeply rooted in the world of folklore and fairytale and backed by a live pop and rock score the company brings a dark and familiar musical tale to life.

This project is the first of Indigo’s Pop Up events, turning empty spaces into performance and art venues.

The company are also hoping to raise money for their trip to the Fringe.

Projects director Cathy Moss said: “Performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is an amazing experience for these young people, it teaches them not only the realities of the industry, in a world where everyone is preoccupied with celebrity fantasy, but provides them with experience of having to get a show up and sell it when up against around 3,000 shows a day.”

The company is entirely reliant on fund raising, donations and grants and members are always on the look out for those willing to donate or offer sponsorship.

Members are also raffling a signed tour poster presented to them by ‘The Script’ along with tour T Shirt and bag, to support their efforts. Raffle tickets can be bought from the Pop Up Shop which opens July 18. Tickets for the production, on July 25-26 at 7.30pm, can also be bought from the shop or online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/indigoarts .
