A PROMISING footballer and England hockey star returned to their former school to recognise the next generation of sporting talent.
Matthew Smith, who plays for Wales U-17s and is on Manchester City’s books, joined hockey player Nicola Moss to present sports awards at Walkwood Middle School.
The morning celebrated the hard work and effort of students who commit themselves to extra-curricular PE and school sports.
Freya Hemming and Jake Browning collected an award for their outstanding commitment to sport while Jessica Cann and Flynn Duggan were named ‘Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year’ for their achievements.
The ‘Team of the Year’ award was claimed by the Year 8 boys rugby team, while the overall ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ was presented to Meisha-Ramona Baylis.
