CHILDREN created a giant 50 to mark half a century of Redditch as a new town.
Pupils and staff from St Thomas More Catholic First School marked the historic occasion by dressing up in 1960s clothes.
A tree was also planted within the grounds of the Woodrow Centre based school by four generations of the Wilson/Hicks family, 50 balloons were released and a giant number 50 was created on the school field.
Members of the teaching staff’s families also talked to pupils about Redditch before the new town was developed. The day also marked the opening of the new Reception children’s playground with a street party.
