Group looks for new playmates

A PLAYGROUP which has been running for 30 years could close its doors unless more people join.

Windmill Community Centre’s toddler group, which celebrated the milestone this week, needs more parents and youngsters to attend their Tuesday group in order to keep it running.

The scheme based at Rye Grass Lane in Walkwood was expected to close by December this year, but mum Emma Dockray decided to take it over in a last-ditched attempt to boost numbers.

“I had taken my little boy there and it was such a lovely set-up. The children can play and mums or dads can have a cup of tea and a catch up.” she said.

“A friend of mine remembered going with her older children, and I had run playgroups in the past, so I thought why not?

“I have the experience and just wanted to try and give it that boost.

“It has been going for such a long time and it would be such a shame to see it go. People need to just come down and try it, it’s a lovely group.”

Sessions cost £2.20 which go towards the cost of the venue, snacks, drinks and toys.

We would really appreciate any toy donations as well, it would only make it better for the children.” Emma added.

The playgroup runs from 9.30am until 11am every Tuesday during school term time.
