Making the leap into film-making in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 17th Sep, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A REDDITCH film production company launched its new studio in the town centre last Thursday (September 8).

Big Frog Films, which was started in 2013, has opened its new studio above the Black Tap, following an increase in work.

The company, run by directors Carla and Nigel Buckley and Mark Wallace who are all from Redditch, produces all kinds of video – from corporate promos and cinematic weddings to music videos and feature films. It also offers a photography service.

Big Frog is currently producing horror movie Penny for the Guy which started out as a short film and was noticed by an American producer which suggested it be turned into a full-length feature. It is due to be completed next May.

Big Frog will also be holding the very first Red Ditch Halloween Film Festival in the Room Upstairs at the Palace Theatre on October 28 and 29.

It follows the firm’s appeals for film-makers to send them their short (under 20-minute) horror movies.

They had almost 1,000 entries from all over the World and the ones judged to be the best will be shown over the two nights.

Awards will be given to best film, director, actor and actresses.

Tickets, at just £6 (including booking fee, are available by calling 01527 65203.

Viewers are urged to go along in fancy dress as there are also prizes for costumes on the evening.

And Big Frog will also be filming and photographing at the Redditch Bandstand event this weekend.
