MCDONALD’S in Oakenshaw has undergone a new, exciting transformation following investment to improve the experience for local customers – and MP for Redditch Karen Lumley was on hand to open the facility.

For those who do not wish to drive through, the restaurant now features the option for customers to have their food delivered direct to their table.

Redditch McDonald’s franchisee Robert Holdcroft started his career 30 years ago and now runs eight restaurants across the region, including the three in Redditch.

“We’re thrilled with the transformation because we’re committed to offering our customers more choice and fast service,” he said.

“Technology has a huge role to play in all walks of life, including our customers’ eating out experience, so the new technology we’ve introduced recognises the way people live their lives today.”

The addition of table service enables customers to order at the self-order kiosk and then sit down at a designated zone to get served. To complete the transformation, free-to-use tablet computers have been installed at some tables for customers to check a newsfeed and e-mails or play the latest games. The restaurant redesign also includes a striking new décor.

The refurbishment follows fast on the heels of the make-over at McDonald’s town centre earlier in the year.

Mrs Lumley said: “I was delighted to visit Robert and his employees at his newly reopened Oakenshaw restaurant. McDonald’s makes a huge and positive contribution to the local community here in Redditch and it’s great to see them continuing to invest in the area.”
