New service to replace CAB

A NEW advice service will be launched in the summer to replace the collapsed Redditch CAB, according to senior officials from the organisation.

Citizens’ Advice will offer additional temporary funding to Bromsgrove CAB to allow it to pick up some of the work Redditch CAB was dealing with.

It will then bid for the £75,000 Redditch CAB had secured for 2015/16 from Redditch Borough Council and if successful it will be used to provide the new service which a spokesman insisted would offer a full range of advice over the telephone, online and face to face.

“During the interim phase the intention is to build capacity so that if we are able to implement a new service delivery model in the summer with funding support from the council, it will be capable of dealing with the demand for services in Redditch. A group of ten volunteers have already contacted Citizens’ Advice wanting to apply to Bromsgrove CAB to deliver outreach services in Redditch.”

Exact details of how the new service will run have not been released but it is understood it will focus around satellite sites providing services within communities of highest need around the borough rather than one centrally based organisation.

From Monday (February 2) anyone in need of advice should call the Worcestershire CAB advice line on 03444 111444 for telephone advice or to arrange face to face appointments between 10am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.
