THE NEW Year was extra special for seven residents as they welcomed tiny additions to their families.

Six baby girls and one baby boy were born at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch on the first day of the year (January 1).

Emma Hallam’s daughter, born at 3.35pm weighing 9lbs 4oz, is joining an extensive family from Matchborough, with five older brothers and one sister. The little one, who was originally due on December 30, has not yet been named.

Gracie-Mae Jacqueline Robertson made her arrival at 4.15am weighing 7lbs 3.5oz, having been due on December 23.

Her mom Amy, also from Matchborough, told the Standard she was glad her daughter had waited to arrive.

“Her due date was so close to Christmas so people weren’t going to celebrate it whereas now she will have a better birthday.

“It’s the best feeling ever starting the new year with a new baby.”
