A TEENAGER and a man have been arrested in connection with car crime in Church Hill.

Officers were called to Loxley Close about 2.45am on Wednesday (June 4) after a member of the public heard a car alarm sounding. They found the window of a Vauxhall Insignia had been smashed and an attempt had been made to force the door, causing £200 of damage.

It was also discovered a Skoda had been broken into in nearby Arley Close overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday (June 3 to 4) with the window having again been smashed causing £100 worth of damage. A sat nav worth £200 and a phone charger worth £10 were stolen but later recovered.

An 18-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of going equipped and attempted theft and were released on bail until July 3, pending further inquiries.

The arrests follow a spate of vehicle crimes in the Church Hill area in recent days. Six took place in Exhall Close including three overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday when a Mercedes van was broken into but nothing was stolen.

A Ford Fusion was also targeted with a signed album by singer-songwriter Jon Gom worth £20 and a pair of Second World War binoculars worth £50 taken while a pair of Gucci sunglasses worth £180 were stolen from a Vauxhall Corsa.

Three other incidents in Exhall Close took place overnight between Sunday and Monday (June 1 and 2) in which £350 worth of damage was caused to a Vauxhall Corsa when an attempt was made to remove the integral sat nav, a £100 sat nav was stolen from a Mercedes along with a black box inside vehicle camera worth £30, and a Vauxhall Astra was broken into and a work pass was removed.

A Hyundai was also broken into in Barnwood Close but nothing was taken.

Elsewhere in the borough a £100 sat nav was stolen from a Ford Focus in Cookridge Close in Brockhill over the same time period.
