Pickpockets hit outside Alcester store

A MAN in his 60s had his wallet stolen in a supermarket car park in Alcester.

As the man was leaving Waitrose off Moorfield Road on Saturday (May 28) he noticed another man pushing a small trolley in the store’s entrance.

He appeared to be looking at the plants in the lobby and had nothing in his trolley.

When the victim was unloading his shopping between 1pm and 1.45pm he saw the man from the lobby and another man at the back of his car.

The man from the lobby was carrying an A4 size book and approached the victim, asking for directions to Nottingham and looking at a map inside the book.

The second man moved behind the victim before leaving in the direction of the High Street and shortly afterwards the first man left in the same direction.

On returning home, the man realised his brown leather wallet – containing several cards including debit cards – was no longer in his pocket.

The man who was seen in the lobby is described as in his mid-to-late 30s, of slight build and around 5ft 6in.

He is believed to be of eastern European or Asian appearance and was clean shaven with short black hair. He was wearing a dark blue jacket with long sleeves and dark coloured trousers.

The second man is also thought to be around 5ft 6in, heavily built and about 50 years old. He had grey and white hair and was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and dark trousers.

Police are appealing for anyone who recognises the descriptions or who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Call 101 or 0800 555 111.
