A NEW campaign has been launched emphasising the importance of talking and listening to children.
The brainchild of the Speech and Language team at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, it offers help and support to those aged 0-19 who experience speech, language, communication or swallowing difficulties.
It is thought that, within the county, around 12,000 people in this age range encounter long term difficulties.
The campaign will encourage parents to take time to talk, listen and play with children to help develop their communication skills.
The first week of the campaign will focus on the effects of background noise – this could be from a television, an ipad or music playing in the background and the impact this can have on children working out the meaning of words.
