A GROUP of youngsters transformed a Redditch care home into Wonderland last Thursday (August 11) for an afternoon of fun and frolics as part of a community project.
The Alice in Wonderland themed activity day at the Saltways Care Home was part of the YMCA NCS (National Citizenship Service) Summer Programme, where young people choose local charities and services to work with before planning and organising various events with them.
The fantasy themed day included fancy dress, face painting, a photo booth, garden games and a Mad Hatter’s tea party, and was enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike.
Teenager Lydia Kelleher, who helped organise the event said: “The day showed me how we can make a real impact to peoples lives in such a short space of time, and it made me so happy to see all the residents’ smiles and giving the memories they will cherish.”
The NCS team have other events planned throughout the summer including a Zombie Walk through Redditch today Friday (August 19) and a ‘fantastical’ stall at Morton Stanley Festival this weekend (August 20-21).
