Redditch family picked for Fun House revival

A MATCHBOROUGH East family will be reliving the 90s after landing a spot on a classic children’s television show.

Jo James and her seven-year-old daughter Isabel beat more than 3,000 families from across the country to take part in a one-off game of Fun House.

For one day only, the duo will go head-to-head against three other families on Saturday, June 13, and will be joined by original presenter Pat Sharp and famous twins Melanie and Martina.

Residents were invited to apply to the New Tardebigge Fayre & Square pub explaining what made them wacky, and the James family proved they enjoy nothing more than making fools out of themselves.

The pair will have to beat the gunge tank quiz, put their foot to the pedal in a go kart race and enter the Wacky Fun House where they can win goodies and the ultimate prize of a family holiday worth £1,000.

Mrs James said she fully expected to be gunged on the day.

“I’m always up for a bit of a laugh and I think you should try something different.

“I remembered the show and I thought why don’t I apply, my husband and daughter didn’t even know I had.

“I do fully expect to be gunged but that’s part of the fun. I think you’re always in with a chance of winning and it is going to be great day.”

She added: “I don’t think Isabel fully understands the game yet because she would have been too young to have watched it but she will have an amazing time.”

Pat Sharp said: “I’m so excited to bring back Fun House as a one-off live event, and the James family are the perfect wacky participants. I can’t wait to meet Jo and Isabel for what looks set to be a fantastic day.”
