REDDITCH’S MP has met the newly appointed chair of the Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust with a focus on the changes at the Alexandra Hospital which have concerned residents.

MP Karen Lumley discussed the issue with Caragh Merrick on Friday (September 9) who officially started her new role on Monday (September 5).

The trust’s future plans and issues surrounding the current restructuring were at the forefront of their meeting. Mrs Merrick has now committed to attend the public meeting at the Town hall on September 28 which will be chaired by Mrs Lumley and the leader of Redditch Borough Council, Bill Hartnett (Lab, Church Hill).

Mrs Lumley said: “I have to say I was very encouraged by Caragh and her understanding of the problems faced by the Trust in Redditch, Worcester and Kidderminster in recent years.

“Her attitude is commendable and she is definitely someone I can work with going forward.

“She is very keen on more engagement with key stakeholders at all levels, including the public as well as with other organisations that help deliver healthcare services across Worcestershire, and for the benefit of all, and I commend that wholeheartedly.”
