A PROGRAMME for isolated young people in Redditch has been launched to get people enjoying the great outdoors.
Your Ideas Youth and Community Centre, on Dilwyn Close, started their Growing Up Project at The Barn at Winyates Centre funded by Grow Wild, the UK’s biggest ever wildflower campaign.
The scheme is aimed at those on the Autism spectrum but anyone over 13-years-old is welcome to take part.
It is designed to increase confidence and build skills in young people as well give them the opportunity to give something back to their community.
Your ideas Art Club will also be getting involved over the next few weeks painting art work to go in the garden alongside newly planted flower beds.
Creator Pauline Marshall said: “This really just kicks off the start of the Growing Up activities which we will be running throughout the summer.
“On Friday they had to move three tons of soil but the flowerbeds are now in place and the veg is ready to be planted.
“There have been so many changes in education over the last few years and we are finding that some people are slipping through the net.
“Sometimes it can be really difficult for children and youngsters to make friends and it is then easy to become isolated.”
The project will also hold a workshop in the garden on June 2.
