ARMED police are patrolling the streets of Redditch after two robberies in just two days – with the culprit still at large.
Officers suspect the incidents were carried out by someone with a firearm who threatened staff and demanded cash.
The first robbery took place at a bookmakers on Batchley Road on Monday (April 18) at 3.50pm ,when the man pulled out what police believe may have been a gun and threatened staff before making off with cash.
He was described as tall, with dark skin and hair and had a slim build.
The second theft took place on Wednesday (April 20) at about 9am at the bookmakers on Shakespeare Avenue where the offender was also described as having a firearm and threatened the employees for money before he fled the scene.
He was an Asian man, about 6ft tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top with dark trousers and a blue face mask.
Det Insp John Cashion said: “We would like to reassure the public that all possible lines of inquiry are being pursued and that includes the possibility both incidents could be linked. Thankfully no one was injured during both of these robberies but staff were understandably shaken.
“Extra patrols are being carried out in the area, focusing on other bookmakers, and we are working with them to enhance security at this time.
Det Ins Emma Wright, who was dealing with the first incident said the man was still at large and urged anyone with information to call the police on the non emergency 101 number or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or via their website.
