STAFF and students alike are jumping for joy at Beoley First School after it was recognised this week for its commitment to competitive sport.

The Beoley Lane site stormed to victory on Tuesday (November 10) when it joined the ranks of other institutions which have been declared as winners of the prestigious Silver School Games Mark Award.

The School Games, which is supported by National Lottery funding from Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, provide an opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country by encouraging them to take part in competitive school sport.

The Games are made up of four levels of activity: competition in schools, between schools, at county/area level and a national event for the most talented school age athletes and schools are encouraged to apply for the Mark to celebrate their achievement.
