RESIDENTS at a Studley care home stepped back to the 1950s when they celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday recently.

Four Acres in Archer Close is a dementia home and going back in time brought many happy memories back to the 39 residents.

Event organiser Kayleigh Aston said: “It all went really well and the residents loved it.

“We had two celebrations, one was a birthday party for the Queen and then we baked a cake for the Queen that everyone was really proud of.”

And she praised everyone who joined in to help.

“We have a fantastic group of volunteers here, family members, relatives of the staff, everyone has been fantastic.”

The home is also hoping that their birthday cake, a three tier creation decked out in red, white and blue might also be good enough to win a national competition for care homes.

“It’s been great for the residents, everyone has enjoyed themselves and it’s been a real celebration,” she said
