Studley youngster takes on Hollywood

A STUDLEY youngster gave the performance of his life on Tuesday (July 14) when he took to the stage in Hollywood, California.

Billy Vale is currently competing in The World Championships of Performing Arts – the ‘Olympics’ for aspiring peformers.

The twelve-year-old, who attends St Benedict’s Catholic High School in Alcester, is the youngest boy in the first ever UK team and had to raise £4,000 to cover competition costs before he could jet off to Los Angeles.

At the start of his campaign Billy pledged to donate any cash raised over his target to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a cause which is close to his family’s heart after the death of Billy’s brother, George in 2011 aged 14, from a brain tumour.

On June 27 Billy hosted a ‘thank you’ concert to those who helped raise the funds to send him to California and donated to the Children’s Hospital.

To date, an additional £2,347 has been raised, including proceeds from the concert itself.
