A STROKE survivor from Headless Cross overcame the challenges of her condition yesterday, Thursday (October 1), to strut her stuff in a charity fashion show.
Mindy Satterthwaite’s memory was affected after suffering a stroke in March last year which also left her with weakness in her left side.
The mother of two had previously been a teacher at Pitcheroak School but unfortunately has been unable to return to the role since.
But the brave 57-year-old joined other stroke survivors, supported by the Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Centre in Bromsgrove, to sashay down the catwalk for Bromsgrove retailer M&Co at their store on the High Street.
“The last time I took part in a fashion show I was still at school,” Mindy said. “So I was a little nervous but really looking forward to being involved.”
All proceeds raised were donated to Bromsgrove Lions who are avid supporters of the Life After Stroke Centre and often arrange trips and tickets for stroke survivors who attend sessions and activities there as part of their recovery.
Keith Godwin, Bromsgrove Lions President, said: “The stroke survivors we meet at the centre have such a positive outlook on life and it is difficult sometimes to realise that they have experienced such a potentially life-changing trauma.
“Their modelling is yet another example of their outward looking attitude.”
