TOUGH men took on a gruelling obstacle course to raise funds in memory of a Winyates girl.

A total of 14 men braved the 12 mile Tough Mudder challenge in Kettering on July 12 in honour of Lucie Southall who passed away from leukaemia.

Malcolm Pudney organised the event and a 52 seater coach to take all the runners as well as their friends and family to support them on the day.

Those taking part included Richard Wells, Andy Buck, Andy Bilson, Jake Bilson, Scott Manning, Andrew Ames, Alex Powell, Steve Landucci, Christopher Shepherd, Anthony Howell, as well as Paul Merry, Chris Tyler and Paul Hayden.

Lucie’s parents Michelle and Wayne were also on the sidelines to cheer on the group and said they were proud and honoured to be there.

The money raised is still being collected but so far £6,000 will go to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where the 12-year-old was cared for.
