A JEWELLERY maker who uses sugar in her creations is enjoying the sweet taste of success after a boost to her business from an unexpected source.

Redditch based Victoria Brown’s unusual pieces are proving a hit, with men in particular looking for a unique gift to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary which is traditionally symbolised by sugar.

Victoria is experiencing an increase in orders from places stretching from London to Glasgow and even Finland.

“It’s taken me a bit by surprise to be honest, as I hadn’t even realised that the sixth anniversary was sugar, until I started getting all these orders. But it’s so lovely when people come to me with an order for a special occasion, you feel like you’re part of their big day. Especially when people come to me asking for special commissions.”

She started Spun Sugar Jewellery in 2011. After previously making jewellery from beads and silver she decided to experiment with sugar set in resin.

“I loved it straight away as the sugar can come in lots of bright colours and as it’s set in resin inside the silver, it will last forever.”
